the na miata was an important pivot in automotive history. the british style roadster was dying out at the time in the 80s, and no one was filling the market. but there was one man in the company that was dead set on bringing back "fun" to cars. mazdas CEO at the time was not interested in taking mazda to the direction of a roadster. they ahd jsut made the xr7 at the time, and the market seemed to be good for it.
